The high-performance IS-COAT insulation bitumen is a product that protects the weak areas formed at the joints of asphalt pavements from water and mechanical impacts, thus preventing premature deformation on the roads.
IS-COAT insulation bitumen is a hot-applied insulation material that, when heated, has a consistency that can be poured without large air bubbles and interruptions. It is a bitumen-based product enhanced with polymer that exhibits elasticity and adhesion performance.
IS-COAT insulation bitumen provides protection for the areas at the joints of asphalt pavements from water and mechanical effects; it also prevents some premature deformation that may occur on the roads, thus saving cost and labor. It has a high elastic ability of return and flexibility. It can maintain its performance in temperature differences, in increased humidity and under heavy vehicle load.
It is used as an insulation material in highways, urban roads, airports, bridges, parking lots and viaducts.
IS-COAT insulation bitumen has the following features:
- It requires special equipment for heating and application processes.
- It has a high adhesion ability to surfaces such as asphalt, concrete, steel, and wood.
- It does not contain volatile solvents, so it is not harmful for the environment and human health.
- It is recyclable.
- It is sold in 18-kilogram tin cans.
Application Details
- There must not be any loose material on the surface where the application will be made, it must be clean and dry. Dust, moisture and solvent content reduces the adhesion ability significantly.
- Application is made to the prepared surface with a suitable apparatus. The applied material temperature is let stand until it reaches the ambient temperature. If it is not desirable for it to stick to the objects that will pass over it, the finished surface should be sprinkled with fine dust or sand.
- The vessels used for heating must be clean. Any foreign substance (water, solvent, oil, fuel, etc.) that may be in the vessels disrupts the working safety and quality of the product.
- Occupational safety rules must be observed during the work.
