The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and its six subsidiary companies have been honored with prestigious awards from the British Safety Council (BSC), a leading organization in the field of occupational health, safety, and welfare management.
Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and its subsidiaries, namely İSFALT, Metro Istanbul, Şehir Hatları, İSTAÇ, Istanbul Enerji, and Spor Istanbul, have been recognized for their exceptional efforts in promoting and enhancing occupational health and safety in their respective domains. Their remarkable achievements have earned them prestigious accolades at the 2023 International Safety Awards, organized by the esteemed British Safety Council (BSC). Thousands of companies worldwide participated, with more than 250 Turkish firms, including IMM-affiliated entities. These companies made commendable applications before the announcement of the competition results.
THEY STEER THEIR OPERATIONS WITH A "ZERO WORK ACCIDENTS" OBJECTIVE
While collaborating with Doğa HSE, a global partner of the British Safety Council and the leader of its Turkish operations, companies carried out their award application procedures. Award-winning companies surpass the legal prerequisites of occupational health and safety, which they consistently monitor and uphold, by managing their operations with an aim of "zero work accidents". This aim has been further bolstered by numerous initiatives related to change, transformation, and digitalization. Processes such as risk and opportunity assessments, awareness campaigns, and practices ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for employees have been recognized and rewarded. Although the practices of award-winning companies differ, the jury particularly appreciated the implementation of an AI-based occupational health and safety culture survey, along with the use of AI systems to monitor potential hazards and the usage of personal protective gear through IP cameras in real-time. In addition, the "Being Well Together" project carried out by İSFALT A.Ş., which prioritizes the welfare development of employees, was recognized as a unique and commendable value by the jury.
THREE COMPANIES RECEIVED THE TOP CATEGORY AWARDS
