İSFALT A.Ş.'s Ümraniye and Habibler Asphalt Factories, leading entities in Turkey's asphalt production landscape, have successfully earned the "Zero Waste Certificate." After thorough inspections, our factories were deemed worthy of the Zero Waste Certificate, a commendation given by the Ministry of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change.
The Zero Waste Regulation, numbered 30829 and dated 12.07.2019, was promulgated in the official gazette, marking the introduction of a new legal framework. This legislation aims at protecting environmental and human health and conserving all resources by implementing effective waste management processes, thereby adhering to sustainable development principles.
Our organization is firmly committed to sustainable practices in our sector, driven by a guiding principle that places the wellbeing of people and the environment above everything, including our core products of asphalt and its derivatives. With this guiding ethos, we have commenced several initiatives at our Ümraniye Asphalt Factory, leading significant strides towards establishing the infrastructure needed to secure the Zero Waste Certificate. Our project ensures the effective segregation of waste at its origin, thereby facilitating the recycling of waste with economic value and reducing the volume of waste generated. This contributes significantly to mitigating environmental pollution.
Our waste management facilities have undergone comprehensive renovations, and we have diligently monitored all company contracts and system applications pertinent to waste management. We have also rolled out extensive environmental training to enhance awareness and ensure compliance with zero waste regulations. As part of our Zero Waste Project, our focus extends beyond transforming environmental consciousness into an integral aspect of our working lives. We also strive to integrate it seamlessly into our everyday routines, while promoting environmentally friendly consumption habits as a key objective.
In compliance with our legal obligations, we've:
- Deployed a set of six zero waste bins to prevent intermixing of separately collected waste. These bins, complemented with informative and consciousness-raising visuals, are strategically placed across our premises.
- Sourced waste bags matching the color of the sorting boxes to streamline waste separation at the source and boost the efficiency of the process, in accordance with legal requirements.
- Procured large waste containers, colored to match the segregated waste bins, and created interim storage spaces within our premises.
As a consequence of these endeavors, our company has successfully established the Zero Waste Management System in accordance with the Zero Waste Regulation published in the Official Gazette dated July 12, 2019, and numbered 30829. This has allowed our Ümraniye and Habibler Asphalt Factories to qualify for the Zero Waste Certificate (Basic Level). The validity of these certificates extends up to November 2026 for the Ümraniye Asphalt Factory and December 2026 for the Habibler Asphalt Factory.
Our commitment to the Zero Waste Project remains steadfast at our Aydınlı and Mahmutbey factories, reflecting our unswerving dedication to environmental conservation. Dated December 13, 2021.
