Quality Control
Quality Control

ISFALT carries out comprehensive quality control activities in order to maintain and continuously improve the existing quality standards, in line with the principle of understanding customer needs correctly and providing products and services above customer demands and expectations with minimum error, which is adopted by all its employees. Quality control studies that proceed based on the testing procedure are used to basically verify that a product is safe and effective after the manufacturing process has been completed.

ISFALT quality control teams test the compliance of materials, products, processes and applications with ISFALT's quality standard in every step from raw material process to production and application. All these processes are part of ISFALT quality management, which focuses on fulfilling quality requirements.

ISFALT quality control activities are carried out under three main headings, namely raw material, production and application.

Raw material

Raw material inspections are determined as aggregate and bitumen inspections. In these inspections, physical and chemical inspections of the material are carried out and its compliance with the specifications is assessed. The process, which starts with mirror inspections of the aggregate in the quarry, continues with checking criteria such as geology, cover status, layer structure, homogeneity, working area, and delivery of the stone to the crusher. At the same time, the characteristics of the crushing screening units, the By-Pass status and the status of the stock area are examined.

Production

In production quality control inspections, the aggregate coming to the stock area is subjected to moisture content determination, sieve analysis, plasticity index, flakiness index, water absorption, crushed particles, loose bulk density and physical tests of bitumen are carried out. Quality control activities are performed by carrying out viscosity for emulsion, settling storage stability, sieve analysis, pH determination, distillation, penetration to distillation residue and ductility tests for distillation residue.

Production quality control inspections are listed under three main headings;

  • Checking the asphalt mix design
  • Checking the implementation of the design in the plant
  • Final product inspection in the laboratory

Road and Application

Application quality control activities start with the inspection of the suitability of the plans, profiles and sections specified in the project and inspection of the equipment. First of all, the strength and cleanliness of the floor, the suitability of the mixture and the asphalt/air temperature balance are checked. Then, quality control works are completed by testing the layer thickness, undulation, joint and lining adhesive status on the floor and on the finished surface, and determination of core/compacting percentage.
